Music, fire, light, colour, emotion. Spain's festive and folkloric heritage is practically limitless. The list contains names that have become legendary: the Sanfermines bull-running festival in Pamplona, immortalised by Hemingway; the art of bullfighting; the Fallas bonfire festival in Valencia; and the religious processions of Easter Week. There are numerous other festivities and traditions which are less well-known –although equally attractive– to be found all over the country. Not a month goes by without some kind of celebration; nor is there a single region without its own compelling traditions. This has been recognised by the award of the Intangible Cultural Heritage designation established by UNESCO.
