Creative genius casts off the restraints of literary tradition, intellectual movements and artistic styles. These creators will always be associated with the period in which they lived and the literary, artistic or intellectual schools that spawned them. However, their genius is such that with their work they revitalise, invigorate, shape and ultimately transcend these movements. In Spain, personalities of this type have left their imprint on all the artistic disciplines. We only have to think of Velázquez, Goya, Picasso and Dalí in painting; or Cervantes, Quevedo and Lorca in literary creation... and there are many, many more. Their genius was limitless and has been recognised as such all over the world.
