Did you know you can find the Americas inside Spain? With the programme 'The Americas in Spain: our common bonds' you can explore the cultural heritage we share with the countries on the Latin American continent through our museums, monuments and cities. Accompanied by experts in Latin American culture, you'll learn all about everything that has united us and today continues to unite us with the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.

The common history of Spain and the Americas can be seen in numerous museums, institutions and sites in our country. Discovering them is especially easy with the programme 'The Americas in Spain: our common bonds'. These are a series of routes, guided tours and sightseeing packages that explore various points of Spain's geography in the quest of the heritage, art and personalities which reflect the cultural wealth shared by both shores of the Atlantic over the centuries.

Reference museum
The Museum of the Americas in Madrid is unquestionably one of the key references in this sphere. This is the only museum in Spain dedicated to the South American continent. Through its collections, visitors can discover the different cultures in Latin America from prehistoric times to the present day, with particular emphasis on pre-Columbian architecture, colonial art and ethnography. Its collection contains over 25,000 items and includes such exceptional pieces as the Treasure of the Quimbayas.

Madrid is only the start of a fascinating journey. Salamanca, Valladolid, Cáceres, Trujillo, Seville, Cadiz, Huelva… these are just a few of the places where you'll also find evidence of the Americas. You can see for yourself in venues such as the Museum of Precolumbian Art, the Archive of the Indies, Casa Colón (Columbus' house) or the Extremaduran and Latin American Museum of Contemporary Art–to name just a few– how all these spaces are intimately related through their common contents.
