As every year, state-run museums are joining in the celebrations on 12 October, Spain's National Day, and are holding an open day, as well as opening for longer than usual. Many of them have also prepared a special programme of free activities including guided tours, concerts, family workshops, and much more.

Spain's National Day is also an important day on the cultural calendar. Why? Because on 12 October all Spain's state-run museums open their doors to the public free of charge, and many of them also organise guided tours and special activities to celebrate this holiday.

This year, for example, you can enjoy a concert of habaneras at the National Museum of Underwater Archaeology (ARQUA). If you have children, you can find educational workshops at the Altamira Museum or guitar micro-recitals at the Museum of the Americas. The full programme is available on the website of the Ministry of Culture and Sport.
