Guerrero Foundation Music Prize

This prize is given in recognition of the work of great musicians in Spain, and is awarded to mark an outstanding contribution to the enrichment of Spanish music.

This is the most important prize awarded by the Guerrero Foundation, which was created in 1982 by the brother of the composer Jacinto Guerrero to encourage Spanish musical culture and particularly the Spanish operetta known as zarzuela. Endowed with €72,000, its prestige can be seen from the list of its laureates: Joaquín Rodrigo, Xavier Montsalvatge, Antón García Abril, Cristóbal Halffter, Manuel Castillo, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Victoria de los Ángeles, Alicia de Larrocha, Carmelo Bernaola and Luis de Pablo.
