Almodóvar has once again gained numerous awards and nominations for this mixture of comedy and drama on guilt and loneliness.
 

Raimunda and Sole are two sisters living in Madrid. Raimunda has an teenage daughter and is married to an unemployed labourer. Sole works as a hairdresser in her own house. After showing up at the funeral of her aunt Paula in their hometown in La Mancha, Sole is surprised to run into her mother, who had apparently died together with her father in a fire. Her mother wants to return with the intention of arranging certain pending matters, especially with Raimunda.
