The first full length film by Alejandro Amenábar is an intense thriller that enjoyed a lopsided triumph at the Goya awards.
Angela is preparing her thesis on audiovisual violence. One day, she finds her thesis advisor dead in a faculty room where he was watching a videotape. She takes the tape, which turns out to be a “snuff movie”, more specifically, the live recording of her classmate being murdered. Intent on investigating further into the matter, she requests from Chema, a classmate of hers and fan of gore films.
