A significant piece from 1960s Spanish cinema. It is a metaphor for the wounds of the Civil War, and won the Golden Bear award at the Berlin International Film Festival.
Three friends, José, Paco and Luis, go hunting on a hunting ground owned by Paco, which was the scene of a battle in the Civil War. They are accompanied by a young man called Enrique, who is going hunting for the first time. They are all going through difficult moments in their lives, and as the day goes on their frustrations begin to show. What looked like being an uneventful day’s hunting becomes a showdown among the three men.
