Spanish filmmaker Isabel Coixet became a winner at the 2018 Goya Awards with this dramatic film.

This feature film is adapted from the novel of the same name by English novelist Penelope Fitzgerald and is set in the 1950s. It tells the story of Florence Green when she arrives in the small coastal town of Hardborough with her husband to realise her dream: to open a bookshop somewhere far from the social revolutions. Her dreams are cut short when the powerful Violet Gamart appears in her life.
