The novelist and critic, Azorín, rated this as his favourite film. It is a brilliant comedy, half way between farce and neo-realism.

Fernando has just completed his military service in the cavalry. When he finds out that his regiment is to be motorised, he decides to spend the savings for his wedding on buying the horse, “Bucéfalo”, that has been his companion during his time in the cavalry. He returns to Madrid with the animal, but has many problems trying to keep it in the city. These include the opposition of his fiancée and his future mother-in-law.
