Black humour comedy, based on the novel of the same title by Rafael Azcona, which portrays the problems of a couple when trying to get a home in the 1950s.

Petrita and Rodolfo have been together since they were 12. They have their hearts set on buying a flat to get married, but they are not able to find one. Rodolfo is reletting a home belonging to old Doña Marina, who has rent-controlled housing. Gradually Rodolfo will consider the idea of marrying his landlady in order to inherit the flat when she dies.
