Film adaptation of the well-known novel by Manuel Rivas

Galicia, 1936. Daniel is a young Republican doctor who is arrested thanks to his political ideas. His girlfriend, Marisa, attempts to oppose her father's intolerance and to obtain her boyfriend's release from prison. Between them, observing them from a distance, is Herbal, a timid jailer who finds it impossible to face up to his feelings.
