This work belongs to the series of portraits known as 'Dibujos de la Raza', made by Victorio Macho in his youth.
This group of drawings is one of the artist's most accomplished works in his facet as draughtsman. He produced them over a period of five years between 1910 and 1915. The portraits in the 'Dibujos de la Raza' have great expressive force. They are a testament both to the hardiness of the agricultural workers on the central plateau, and –as in this case– to the delicacy and freshness of young girls.
