During the reading of the Book of Esther, children make noise with the groggers when the name of Haman is mentioned. He was the Bible character who tried to get rid of the Jews in Persia, but failed thanks to the intervention of Queen Esther.
This marble grogger was part of the permanent exhibition at a museum in New York.
