This is an exceptional piece due both to the quality of the gold used, and its oriental-style decoration.
The arrival of elements and influences from the Mediterranean peoples, mainly the Phoenicians and Greeks, led to a boom in economic activity. Proof of these influences is this ring found near Alcubillas, from a collection which corresponds to a distinctive Eastern Mediterranean and Archaic Greek art, dating from around the end of the 6th century B.C.
The ring is made of extremely pure gold and is shaped like a seal, with an approximately circular chaton (heavy precious stone set in a ring or other item of jewellery) from which emerge two feline heads with open jaws and perforations.
