A peaceful composition, full of innocence and happiness, as usual with the portraits Fortuny painted of his children.

Fortuny painted his children's portraits many times throughout his lifetime. In this case, the exuberant vegetation on the left and the almost dream-like decorations remind us of the world of fantasy of children. The fast and elaborate technique at the top contrasts with the strokes on the ground that are almost like a sketch, where you can only see what may be the reflection of the plants.
This work was left by Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo to the Prado Museum collection in 1950.
