A representation of a typical Castilian patio from the 16th century.

Many details of the theatre, the performance and the public can be seen. For example, the patio (patio de los mosqueteros or open patio) is full of men dressed in typical clothes from the military rabble in the Spanish Golden Age (hat with feathers, cape, sword, high boots...). In the upper part, the private rooms hired by nobility can be made out, used to watch performance without being seen. The corridor known as the cazuela de mujeres or women’s gods was located here – the only space reserved for women.
