Wardrobe design for the character of “Doña Ángela” and inspired by classical illustrators.

With his designs for “La dama duende” (The Phantom Lady), Nieve proposes staging from the point of view of ”costumbrismo” (literature of manners), in its purest form, and romantic traditionalism. To do so, he uses classical illustrators like Gustavo Doré as his inspiration and he uses some “costumbrista” archaisms from Daniel Urrabieta.

Explained in his own words “I have felt the need to evoke Calderon through classical illustrators because they have established a legitimate connection between their world and ours, because romanticism is the great mediator between the two.”
