It is a portable puppet theatre that performs a musical and theatrical adaptation of an episode of "The ingenious knight Don Quixote of La Mancha".

The opening night of the musical version of "Maese Pedro's Puppet Show" by Manuel de Falla was on 28 April 1923 in the San Fernando Theatre in Seville. The play was so successful that it was soon put on in other countries. In 1926 it was put on in Amsterdam with Luis Buñuel as the director, and in 1928 in the Paris National Opera Comic Theatre, with the set and puppets by Ignacio de Zuloaga.
A medieval romance is performed: Melisendra being freed by her husband Gayferos. A puppet show, guided by Maese Pedro, in which the characters, the Emperor Charlemagne, the beautiful Melisendra, the knight Gayferos, King Marsilio and the Moors are the protagonists of a chivalric tale.
