This panel, remarkable for its quality of composition and execution, formed part of one of the biggest Catalan Gothic altarpieces.

In 1463, the Tanners’ Guild commissioned Jaume Huguet to build the altarpiece for the main altar of the Sant Agustí Vell church in Barcelona. Owing to the size of the piece and the economic crisis that prevailed at the time in the country, the work was not finished until 1486. Eight panels have come down to us, seven of which are housed at the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC), while the other is to be found at the Marès Museum.
