This is a piece of furniture conceived as a work of art, albeit without forsaking its utility, which sublimates the prolific, inventive capacity of the architect, Gaudí.
Antoni Gaudí, one of the greatest turn of the 20th century architects, was also an audacious designer of furniture, railings and other decorative fittings in some of his buildings. For the seats at the Batlló House on the Paseo de Gràcia in Barcelona, the architect designed a type of seat unknown until then, the round shapes of which seek to adapt to the human form, forsaking upholstery and the superfluous decoration of the time, contenting himself with the bare form. Gaudí was the precursor of ergonomic design, breaking with the academic monopoly on style and anticipating industrial design, as did his peers, such as Victor Horta, Mackintosh and Saarinen.
