Forms part of the famous gallery of portraits by Ramon Casas, one of the most important of those in MNAC's Print, Drawing and Poster Department.

An iconic figure of Catalan modernism, Ramón Casas was one of the leaders of the movement to renew Catalan figurative art in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The artist’s fine skills are on show here in this self-portrait, which is part of the famous gallery of portraits of men and women who were famous in the society and intellectual world of his time. They were drawn in charcoal and donated by the author in 1909. The art of Casas as a draughtsman became well known through his design of posters and illustrations in magazines.
