It is one of the most beautiful reliefs on the altarpiece. Its Mannerist style stands out with the predominance of the figures over the empty space, and the density of elements in a minimal space.

It is structured into two different groups which are connected with looks and gestures. A diagonal line connects Joseph's head, Baby Jesus and Melchior, while the Virgin and Balthasar are connected in parallel. Both Baby Jesus and the Virgin are larger, to highlight their importance. The figures, with strongly projected volumes, stand out because they look like monuments.
