Original title

The Last Ten Minutes II

It is a video installation made for the "Documenta 6" international contemporary art exhibition in Kassel. It is one of Antoni Muntadas's most important works.

"The Last Ten Minutes II" compares three screens showing the last ten minutes of TV programmes in three cities in different countries: Washington, Moscow and Kassel. During those minutes similar images are shown on the media, like in any other place in the world: current affairs, the newsreader closing the news, national or company emblems, etc. Then, Muntadas shows images of these cities that reflect human and cultural diversity, which contrasts with the TV production. The places he has chosen add extra information because he compares different social realities that were politically opposed during the Cold War.
