Cultural background

Original title

Las trabajadoras de Brukman

Installation that is part of Creischer's work that explores the relationship between official politics and new types of alienation.

Alice Creischer's work is narrative and focuses on investigating the moments in which the history of capitalism and its operational principles become tales of exploitation, exclusion and distortion of the basic principles of democracy. This installation shows the artist's involvement in the 2001 crisis in Argentina. Creischer carried out this work in collaboration with the female workers at the Brukman factory in Buenos Aires, who decided to carry on working in the factory after the international capital movements forced it to close down.
