Original title

Concetto spaziale. La Fine di Dio

With pieces like this one, Lucio Fontana seeks a new definition of space by the dematerialisation of the work.

It is made up of seven perforated and cut canvases, which are displayed in a monographic room dedicated to Lucio Fontana in the Reina Sofía National Art Museum.

What Fontana proposes is the abolition of the imaginary space replacing it with real space, which is what he largely develops in his Spatialism theory. This thesis is reflected in his spatial concepts, made up of monochrome canvases using "buchi" and "tagli" (holes and cuts) that transmit the idea of a real and enveloping space, and the spectator is part of it.
