A classical altarpiece mixing Italian and Nordic styles. It is the work of the most important painter in the Aragonese Renaissance.

The iconography of the paintings shows the altarpiece was carefully chosen for its location. In this way, we see scenes from the Passion of Christ presided over by the central image of the Virgin, mother and intercessor of sinners, since the work was destined for the Kingdom of Aragon Regional Government prison chapel.

The emblems of the Kingdom of Aragon can be seen on the base, unmistakable signs of identity reinforced by iconography linked with Aragon, such as Saint George, patron saint of Aragon, and Saint Engratia, a martyr from Zaragoza.
