This hood, which is worn at the top of the back of a cope, was made in an embroidery workshop in the Hieronymite monastery of Guadalupe in its period of greatest splendour, at the end of the 15th century.

There is a young prince depicted praying before the Virgin with Baby Jesus, which has to be identified as don Juan, the heir of the Catholic Monarchs, accompanied by St Jerome, with a cardinal's hat and a book that seems to be the Vulgate Bible translation.

The lower part is embroidered with the arms of King Henry IV, a coat of arms with castles and lions, stamped with a royal crown and surrounded by a pomegranate branch, emblem of the Castilian monarch.
