This Granada-themed work by Manuel Ángeles proves that the museum also finds room for contemporary art.
The paintings produced by Manuel Ángeles Ortiz are usually organized in series that always repeat the same theme, sometimes over decades: pictures of the Albaicin, The Cypress Walk, Tributes to El Greco and Female Heads. In his Albaicin paintings, staggered over the period between 1959 and the mid-seventies, following his return to Granada, the painter makes use of labyrinth-like geometry, similar to that of this unusual hill in the city, where the houses seem to "swirl around".
The museum has other contemporary art works by artists such as José Guerrero, Ismael González de la Serna and Manuel Rivero.
