Painting by Barceló depicting his connection with classical drawing and Baroque elements.
Barceló's works are connected with tradition: on one hand, classical drawing with the chiaroscuro treatment, and plastic modelling of the figure. On the other, there is a Baroque element that is not strange if we remember that he admires the artists displayed in the Prado Museum. The perspective construction of the studio full of paintings creates a tension with the fluid that comes from the background towards the outside, which does not seem to be affecting the figure. Another reference to the Baroque is its origin and other paintings on the theme of an artist in his studio. This way, this work basically becomes a silent reflection on painting and the artist.
