Domestic use item used to hold substances that perfumed the atmosphere.

 

It used to be part of the private trousseau belonging to a passenger of the "Nuestra Señora de Atocha" galleon, which was shipwrecked in 1622 on the coast of Florida, after sailing from Havana port as part of the large fleet returning to Spain after gathering a large cargo from different parts of the continent. It was retrieved in 1996 together with other objects

As the seal on the decoration states, this silver object was made at the beginning of the 17th century in the city of Santa Fe de Bogotá.
