Decorative element used in the last festival of the ceremony cycle that is held at the end of June - the "tawa", in the southeast of the Amazon.

The "tawa" is a festival in which the victories achieved by the Tapirapé over their neighbours the Kayapo or Karajá are re-enacted. This mask symbolises the latter. In general, this kind of element has a symbolic meaning linked with spirits and supernatural powers.
