A female sculpture that represents the goddess "Chalchiuhtlicue" or the "Woman in the jade skirt". She is the goddess of water and rain, and therefore, of fertility.

It belonged to the cultural context of the Aztec Empire. In this sculpture, made of volcanic rock, the goddess is wearing the "quechquemitl" or female shirt tapered to a point, adorned with hanging pompoms and a plain skirt or "cuéitl". She is wearing a headdress under which we can see the edges of her fringe, and a series of discs are hanging, which represent amaranth seeds. This headdress has a pleated paper fan at the back, or "Tlaquechpanyotl".
