This archaeological item reminds us of the great work of the Marquis of Cerralbo as a historian and archaeologist.

It is a sword with a curved double-edged blade. The hilt is shaped as a horse's head.

The Marquis of Cerralbo gathered a large collection of archaeological and palaeontological objects, mainly made up of materials from more than a hundred sites that he excavated in the province of Soria, and which he donated to the National Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Natural Sciences in 1922. The Cerralbo Museum houses the archaeological items that he bought in the antique market, as well as his art collections, or that he was given as a gift. The falcata can be found in this context.
