This is part of the series featuring different means of locomotion which drew Goya's attention during his stay in Paris and Bordeaux.

The subjects of the drawings in Album G, to which this work belongs, are poor people (as observed by Goya himself) who used unusual means of locomotion either for carrying passengers or for moving around themselves.

The figure shown here is pushing a cart whose contents are hidden beneath a large cloth. The twisted back and the foot resting on the floor suggest the awkward gait of a cripple. In addition, three characters behind appear to watch him and laugh at his expense.
