Copa

The quality and variety of Nasrid pottery from Al-Andalus are incomparable. Because the sultans were determined to consolidate their power, they would produce gold, white and blue china.

This type of item may be considered the immediate antecedent of traditional Fajalauza pottery, which is still produced today. It is a cup made for crockery, from the Albaicín neighbourhood (Granada).

Its body is shaped as a spherical skullcap with curved walls and a protruding edge. The surface inside is decorated with blue geometric and flower motifs. The background is white tin-glazed and preserves traces of gold. The external surface is decorated with straight and curved blue lines and also preserves traces of gold.
