Saint Jude is barely sketched in but the expressive effect is impressive.

Technically, the painting is in the second phase of execution, in which the colour of the tunic and cloak was applied. The hands and beard are no more than a vague smear.

The face is that of an old man. He is clothed in a blue robe and an orange-yellow cloak, as can also be seen in the Saint Jude in the Fine Arts Museum of Oviedo. However, in the version in Toledo Cathedral (in which the workshop was clearly involved), the oxidation of the varnish has changed the colour of the cloak to a greener shade.
