This work is outstanding in the history of illumination, and also one of the most important codices in the National Library.
According to Durrieu, this codex, the work of the Parisian workshops at the time of Charles VIII and Louis XII, was made in response to the Books of Hours printed by Simon Vostre, Pigouchet and Vérard.
It is luxuriously decorated with miniature scenes across two pages, and various full-page illustrations depicting scenes from the Old and New Testaments, the saints, Paradise and Hell, torments, vices and virtues, and the tree of Jesse.
