Handwritten translation of part of the poetic works of Ausiàs March from the Valencian into Latin by the humanist Vicente Mariner (1397-1459).
The value of this piece is twofold. On the one hand it is an example from National Library's collection of manuscripts by one of the 'most productive Hellenists Spain has ever produced', as Mariner was described at the time by Menéndez y Pelayo. And on the other, it is a testament to the work of a towering figure of mediaeval Valencian literature, whose poetry has wielded enormous influence over numerous authors. Its Latin translation led to widespread dissemination of March's work.
