Compilation of Francisco de Quevedo's poems by José Antonio González de Salas, commented by the author.

The book is structured with different covers, one per muse, with information on each one of them and a brief description of the group to which the poems belong.

It was González Salas who designed the images of the six muses, the etched frontispiece and the burin that would illustrate this first edition: Clio, Polyhymnia, Melpomene, Erato, Terpsichore and Thalia. However, González de Salas died in 1651 and was not able to complete the three remaining muses: Calliope, Euterpe and Urania. The muses, drawn by Alonso Cano, were etched by Juan de Noort and Herman Panneels, and one by Alonso Cano.

Although it is not usual for the author to appear twice, Quevedo is depicted on the frontispiece with Apollo crowning him with a laurel wreath, and also on a medallion.
