This is the only known example of this edition which is held in a public library.
It is the second printing of this essential work by Nebrija, dedicated to Cardinal Pedro de Mendoza. The treatise was conceived as a textbook for the study of Latin. Indeed, the present copy contains numerous handwritten notes by the student, either in Latin or indicating the Castilian translation of Latin terms.
This work is the inevitable forerunner to all subsequent Latin grammars. The work by Nebrija, one of the authors who introduced the humanist principles of the Renaissance into Spain, was of such importance that it was reprinted for various centuries.
