Front page of a 14th-century manuscript corresponding to a selection of works by the philosopher Lucius Anneus Seneca.
This is an illuminated text of Byzantine inspiration depicting Seneca beside a shelf of books. Together with other manuscripts, incunabula and printed material, it forms part of the extensive library in the Monastery of Sant Cugat, whose oldest volume dates from the 11th century and whose collection became the property of the Archive of the Crown of Aragon in 1835.
