Luisillo

Original title

Romeo y Julieta

One of the last works from dancer and choreographer Luís Dávila ‘Luisillo’ was this show on the mythical romance of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ commissioned by the Italian city Verona.

Luisillo’s version, artistic director of the Spanish Dance Company, is a flamenco show of the classic play by the English playwright William Shakespeare. Antonio Canales stood out in the main role from amongst the selection of dancers available.
The show lasts for ninety minutes, most of which pass without music or background words. There is only dance, tapping, hand-clapping and the silence of the dancers, thanks to Luisillo’s imaginative composition.
