Original title

No soy un libro

This is a science-fiction story that testifies to the diverse literary talent of the member of the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language, José María Merino.

Aimed at a young reading public, though popular with readers of all ages, its real title is Los trenes del verano (“The Summer Trains”) which becomes No soy un libro (“I am not a book”) as a result of an internal plot twist.

The book tells the story of a train trip around Europe by three friends in their summer holidays. On the first leg of the trip from Madrid to Paris, a strange event serves as a gateway to the adventure. Fantastical worlds and parallel universes meet and give rise to a sort of ‘stellar shipwreck’ in which the main characters have to confront their (only apparent) awful bad luck with all the ingenuity and courage at their command.
