A heroic novel saga by Arturo Pérez-Reverte centring around the figure Captain Alatriste.

Novels written by Arturo Pérez-Reverte and published between 1996 and 2006. There are six volumes to date although three more are planned. The saga centres around the adventures of Diego Alatriste y Tenorio, Captain Alatriste, a veteran soldier and skilled swordsman belonging to the Flanders’ Tercio army.
Set in 17th-century Madrid, Alatriste is obliged to become a mercenary, carrying out all types of dangerous missions.
The film Alatriste based on the series of novels premièred in 2006, directed by Agustín Díaz Yanes.
