Original title

Gilded Goldbergs

One of the culminating musical works of all time, the ‘Goldberg Variations’ by composer Johann Sebastian Bach, were the inspiration for this choreography by dancer Nacho Duato.

Duato used the version of the famous ‘Goldberg Variations’ created freely by the contemporary British composer Robin Holloway as a base. The staging, produced for the National Dance Company that Duato directed for twenty years between 1990 and 2010, has ten dancers who, through a highly demanding choreography from a technical standpoint, develop a highly imaginative and creative scenic discourse. The outstanding musicality and elegant interpretation of the dancers bring this staging to life, which had its world première at La Zarzuela Theatre in Madrid on 15th November 2006.
