Original title

Estatua con palomas

A biographical novel by Luis Goytisolo that mixes personal chronicle with a plot set in 2nd century Rome.

A biographical novel in which Goytisolo combines personal and family chronicle with a critical, even humoristic, vision of the continually changing Barcelona of the 1990s. Starting with this chronicle, the author introduces us into a new storyline that takes place in 2nd century Rome, in which the character of ‘Tácito’, who mirrors the author, tells his own story.
This work is a synthesis of Goytisolo’s previous production, once again showing his interest in cosmogony, a taste for meta-literary reflection, and the use of fiction as a path to understanding.
