Play by Valle-Inclán, as part of his mythical cycle, in which violence, lust, irrational elements and death control the lives of the protagonists.

A drama by Ramón María del Valle-Inclán, published in 1920 and considered to be the main precedent to "Bohemian Lights". It was premiered on 16 November 1933 in the Teatro Español theatre in Madrid, directed by Cipriano Rivas Cherif and with Margarita Xigrú in the leading female role.

The plot has grotesque elements and revolves around the verger Pedro Gailo's family. The tragedy culminates when Mari, his wife, runs away with her lover, and a group of drunks kill his nephew.

The play must be placed within Valle-Inclán's mythical cycle, in which violence, lust, irrational elements and death control the lives of the protagonists.
