Canción de cuna

Two-act play by the married couple formed by the writers Gregorio Martínez Sierra and María Lejárraga.

The play tells the story of a little girl, Teresa, from the time she is abandoned at the doors of a convent in Castile until she marries and emigrates to America, and relates the adventures of her childhood and adolescence.

Given its popularity and dramatic qualities, there are as many as five film versions of the work, directed respectively by Mitchell Leisen (1933), Gregorio Martínez Sierra (1941), Fernando Fuentes (1953), José María Elorrieta (1961) and José Luis Garci (1994).
