Theatrical tragedy by Federico García Lorca, written in 1931, revolving around the great drama of life and death. It was premiered in Madrid's Beatriz Theatre in March 1933 by the Josefina Díaz and Manuel Collado company.
It is set in the Andalusian countryside and is about a wedding that was prevented because the bride fell in love again with her ex lover, Leonardo. After many conflicts between the families involved, the wedding goes ahead as planned, but the bride soon runs away with Leonardo. The husband follows then and the play ends with the fight between him and the lover, where they both die.
In 1981 Carlos Saura made a film based on the play, with the same name.
